Expanded metal
Expanded metal is produced from sheet or coil by punching and stretching the material to form meshes (rhomboidal, square, and round). Depending on the mesh opening and strand width, the surface area expansion is typically 2–3 times the base material with this manufacturing technique, significantly reducing waste compared to, for example, perforated sheet metal. Expanded metal is very strong and durable due to its structure.
Expanded metal can be rolled to achieve a smooth surface or a thickness suitable for the intended purpose. It is sold in rolls or plates in standard widths but can also be manufactured according to customer preferences.
